About Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise which was developed by Joseph Pilates in 1920. Joseph designed a series of exercises based on core strength, the foundation of Pilates. Core strength is when the deep internal muscles of the abdomen and back work together to strengthen the body and support the spine. Pilates exercises teach correct breathing and spine alignment to strengthen your core muscles which will help alleviate or even prevent back pain, increase strength, flexibility and tone of the body.

About Helen

Having had a career in the “corporate world” spanning seven years, in 2007 inspired by my ongoing participation in pilates classes, I took a dramatic turn in my career path and trained as a pilates instructor through the Progressive Pilates Academy.

Qualified as a Progressive Mat Essential Instructor, I opened the studio in Ranelagh Village in September 2009.

My vision was to have a studio where anyone could learn the benefits of pilates in a friendly, informal atmosphere. On this basis, whilst the studio is large and open plan, the classes are purposefully kept small to ensure individual attention. Smaller classes means more time to be accurate and the opportunity to share all I know about the pilates technique.

The mat classes are diversified, never the same each week, and include small resistant props to add challenge and further tone and strengthen the body.

I am passionate about Pilates and its guiding principles to help people improve their daily lives I continue to learn and be inspired through on going education and keep updated on new developments in the Pilates world.

Corporate Teaching

Should you wish to have pilates brought to your workplace, Helen also offers a corporate teaching service.
Provide an open plan room; recruit a minimum of 8 of your colleagues and Helen will look after the rest!
Existing corporate clients include the staff of Dublin City Council, Siemens Ireland, Pfizer Ireland and the staff of the National Concert Hall.
